Abstract

Due to the environmental impacts caused by economic development, the green logistics theme is gaining notoriety and has demanded attention from managers. Verifying the level of maturity and the level of understanding of green logistics practices provides subsidies for a better performance of these managers. Thus, the main objective of this work was to verify if the level of understanding of the green logistics practices of the employees of logistics companies varies in the same direction as the level of maturity. Such work was developed in two sequential stages: the first one had a qualitative nature and the second one had a quantitative approach. The first step resulted in the identification of three logistics providers with different levels of maturity in green logistics management. The second step measured the level of understanding of green logistics for employees of each of these three providers. The research demonstrated that the understanding of green logistics practices varies in the same direction as the company maturity level of green management; that is, the higher the level of maturity of the company's green management, verified by its practices, the greater the understanding of its employees about the components involved in green logistics. Some management recommendations have been suggested for each of the companies presenting the three diferente levels of maturity.
