Abstract

Esta revisão bibliométrica analisou o impacto acadêmico de Elinor Ostrom, utilizando a base de dados Scopus e as ferramentas Bibliometrix e VOSviewer, para examinar suas publicações (conjunto SA) e as publicações que a citam (conjunto SB). O objetivo foi avaliar a influência e evolução do impacto acadêmico de Elinor Ostrom. A metodologia da pesquisa envolveu a busca e seleção de publicações no Scopus, utilizando o nome da autora como string de busca, seguida da análise bibliométrica dos dados, considerando volume e frequência de publicações e citações, autores e fontes relevantes, palavras-chave, redes de cocitação e tendências temáticas. Os resultados demonstram o crescente impacto de Elinor Ostrom, especialmente após a publicação de "Governing the Commons" em 1990, com aumento significativo nas citações e publicações relacionadas. "Ação coletiva" e IAD (Institutional Analysis and Development) emergiram como temas centrais. A análise de cocitação revelou o diálogo entre a obra de Elinor Ostrom e trabalhos como "The Tragedy of the Commons", de Hardin (1968), destacando a contraposição de suas abordagens. Observou-se uma mudança de foco nas pesquisas que citam a autora, com crescente interesse em desafios ambientais globais, como mudanças climáticas e desenvolvimento sustentável. Conclui-se que a obra de Elinor Ostrom permanece influente e relevante, com aplicações crescentes em questões ambientais e de sustentabilidade, consolidando seu legado na governança de recursos de uso comum.

ABSTRACT

This bibliometric review analyzed the academic impact of Elinor Ostrom, using the Scopus database and the Bibliometrix and VOSviewer tools to examine her publications (set SA) and the publications that cite her (set SB). The objective was to assess the influence and evolution of Elinor Ostrom’s academic impact. The research methodology involved searching for and selecting publications in Scopus, using the author’s name as the search string, followed by bibliometric analysis of the data, considering the volume and frequency of publications and citations, relevant authors and sources, keywords, co-citation networks, and thematic trends. The results demonstrate the growing impact of Elinor Ostrom, particularly after the publication of Governing the Commons in 1990, with a significant increase in related citations and publications. "Collective action" and IAD (Institutional Analysis and Development) emerged as central themes. The co-citation analysis revealed a dialogue between Ostrom’s work and pieces like Hardin's The Tragedy of the Commons (1968), highlighting the contrast between their approaches. A shift in focus was observed in the research citing the author, with increasing interest in global environmental challenges such as climate change and sustainable development. It is concluded that Elinor Ostrom’s work remains influential and relevant, with growing applications in environmental and sustainability issues, consolidating her legacy in the governance of common-pool resources.
